Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has revealed that the NDC taking legal action in several constituencies, challenging the declaration of parliamentary results by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Speaking out on the matter as stated by MyJoyOnline, Dafeamekpor criticized the EC for attempting to preempt the judicial process by holding a press conference on the issue, despite court processes being served.
“The NDC is saying that in respect of these four or five constituencies that have been listed among the nine, we are challenging the EC from conducting itself in a manner that disregards the law,” Dafeamekpor said during an interview.

“For instance, they’re saying that they will not recognize the declaration of results, but the recognition or otherwise of those declarations doesn’t lie in the mouth of the EC. It lies with the court of law.”
He went on to stress that only a competent court of law can make a decision on the validity of the results and whether a rerun or re-collation is warranted.
“Only a court of law can declare those declarations as unlawful,” he said. “Therefore, whether or not a rerun of the election or re-collation can take place, it can only be ordered by a court of law, a court of competent jurisdiction.”
Dafeamekpor also condemned the EC’s actions as a clear act of contempt for the judicial process. Despite the matter being in court, he argued, the EC seemed to be undermining the legal process by making public statements about the issue, thus complicating the resolution.
