After being spotted taking pictures of their ballot papers while voting, two delegates had their phones temporarily seized by police officials who were supervising the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primary in the Sagnarigu constituency in Tamale.

According to sources speaking with JoyNews, the voters were among the delegates who had been offered motorcycles, provided they were able to give evidence that they had voted.

On the other hand, it is not clear which of the candidates made the promise to them. There were more than two people who made the attempt, but none of them were able to capture their votes.

During the time that the two were snapping pictures, their mobile phones were taken away from them.

In the latest news today, the law enforcement officers collected their personal information and requested that they come back a few hours later in order to get their phones.

According to an officer of the Electoral Commission who talked to JoyNews off the record, the offenders were not arrested since this was an internal political party election, and because arresting them may generate unneeded tension, it was decided not to arrest them.

In the meantime, the electoral board has stated that it is doing all in its power to prevent anyone from bringing their cellphones into polling booths.

The electoral commission stated that it is doing everything possible to prevent voters from bringing their phones into the polling booth.
