National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has sued the Government of Ghana over what he describes as the unlawful termination of public sector appointments.
“Earlier today, I filed a lawsuit against the Government of Ghana, challenging the unlawful termination of appointments for individuals employed both before and after December 7, 2025,” he announced.
His legal action follows a directive from the Chief of Staff on February 10, 2025, instructing public institutions to revoke all appointments made after December 7, 2024.
The directive has led to mass dismissals across key agencies, including the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Ghana Water Company, Ghana Education Service (GES), SSNIT, and the Ghana Health Service.

Nana Boakye insists the directive is unconstitutional, arguing that, “President John Dramani Mahama, through the Chief of Staff, does not have the constitutional authority to direct Heads of Government Institutions to revoke appointments and recruitments made within the Public Services of Ghana.”
He further expressed concern over the widespread layoffs, stating, “Following the directive issued on February 10, 2025, we have seen institutions acting in compliance, leading to widespread dismissals.”
