Following a series of resignations within his government, Nana Akufo-Addo wasted no time filling the void. The changes to Akufo-Addo’s administration come after months of requests from the public.

Under a letter dated February 7th, the President informed the Speaker of Parliament of the recent changes in administration, as required by the Constitution of 1992.

Several of the president’s appointments have resigned, some because they want to run for president themselves, and others for reasons that were never made public. On Thursday, January 5, 2023, Alan Kyerematen submitted a letter of resignation to President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Dr. Akoto’s resignation follows the Trade Minister, Alan Kyerematen’s, departure from the administration a few days ago so that he could focus on his Presidential ambitions. He intends to run for president in 2024, That is why he’s retiring to focus on building the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as its presidential candidate.

On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, the minister who was always under fire resigned to pursue his dream of becoming president. He is most known for the controversial move to sell cheap food in the agriculutral ministries.

There have been new appointees, and some ministers have been moved to new departments.

The whole list is provided down below.

• K.T. Hammond, the current member of parliament for Adansi Asokwa, has been nominated to be the country’s next Minister of Trade and Industry.

• Brian Acheampong, a lawmaker representing Abetifi, has been nominated to be the country’s next minister of agriculture and food.

• Dr. Stephen Amoah has been named the new Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry in replacement of Herbert Krapah.

• Minister-designate for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Stephen Asamoah Boateng has been named.

• Mohammed Amin Adam, a member of parliament from Karaga who was serving as the deputy minister of the energy ministry, has been moved to a new position. He now serves as the Minister of State for the Ministry of Finance. He’ll take over for Charles Adu Boahen.

• Hebert Krapah, formerly the Deputy Minister of Trade, has been appointed to be the Deputy Minister of Energy. In this role, he succeeds Mohammed Amin Adam.

• Osei Bonsu Amoah, the current member of parliament for Akuapem South, has been promoted to the position of Minister of State in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
