After making headlines with claims that gospel musician Sonnie Badu had refused to refund a $300 debt, singer Mzbel has now confirmed that the amount has been paid in full.
In a recent interview, she revealed that she received the money through mobile money after being contacted by his team.
“I was called the following day by his team, and they have paid my $300. They sent it through Momo,” Mzbel stated, indicating that the issue had been resolved.
She also noted that the amount received was more than what was owed to her, adding,
“They sent more than I needed. If they like, I can send them back the rest of the money. Also, I promised them that I wasn’t going to talk about it anymore after they sent me the money.”
Mzbel further clarified that there was no ambiguity regarding the source of the payment.
“The person who sent me the money also made me aware that it was from Sonnie Badu, and I confirmed that it was not from a fan but Sonnie Badu.
“Also, I will talk about him or this issue if he says something against me,” she added.
The controversy began after Mzbel publicly accused Sonnie Badu of refusing to pay her back the money she had used to purchase an item for him using her Visa card. Her outburst quickly went viral, sparking widespread debate on social media.
Interestingly, following Mzbel’s online rant, Sonnie Badu took to social media to announce a generous giveaway, stating that he was led by the “spirit of the Lord” to bless three people with $300 each.
“The spirit of the Lord dropped on my heart and spirit to do something benevolent: to give three sets of people a blessing of $300 each,” he shared.
