John Dumelo, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, has vowed to prioritize development and deliver on the trust his constituents placed in him.
Speaking to the media on January 7, 2025, shortly after taking the oath of office, the celebrated actor-turned-politician expressed both gratitude and determination as he began his tenure.
“I am focused on attracting more businesses to Ayawaso West Wuogon to create employment opportunities,” Dumelo stated. His vision centres on addressing the pressing issue of unemployment in the constituency by creating a thriving environment for business growth.
Reflecting on his journey, Dumelo admitted he initially found his victory difficult to believe. “Even when I won the election, I couldn’t believe it at first. I thought maybe it wasn’t true. But sitting here today and taking the oath of office, I realize that I am indeed the Member of Parliament.”

This realization has fueled his resolve to deliver on his campaign promises. “I wouldn’t fail the people because they gave me their vote. Everywhere I go, they say, ‘John, I voted for you, and I don’t want you to fail.’ That is what motivates me. I am not here to fail the people,” he said passionately.
Dumelo also highlighted his ongoing efforts to support students in the constituency, a cornerstone of his campaign.
“I have been helping students, and I will continue to do so until the four years elapse. My resources will never run out,” he assured, emphasizing his commitment to education and youth empowerment.
Dumelo’s victory has been celebrated by many, not only for his charisma and popularity but also for his ability to connect with everyday citizens.
