Nigerian artist Mr Eazi has refuted claims that his fellow musician Tekno collapsed during a performance in South Africa.
Rumours have been circulating widely, with numerous outlets alleging that the singer and songwriter fainted, accompanied by a misleading video depicting an individual, purported to be Tekno, being attended to by onlookers after the incident.
The video, which appeared to be filmed during a concert, was captioned ” Tekno collapsed in South Africa during his tour.”
As the false narrative began to spread on social media, Mr Eazi responded with a simple “LMAO,” signalling that the reports were unfounded, adding “Tekno wey Malabo,” suggesting in pidgin English that Tekno is actually in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, not South Africa.

A different Twitter user supported Mr. Eazi’s statement, expressing concern over why individuals are so quick to disseminate false information.
He further noted that the individual featured in the video is Prezzo from Kenya, who experienced a collapse during a concert a few years back.
“You dey mind them! People go just dey spread fake news like bedspread. For the record guys, that’s not Tekno.
“The person in that video is Prezzo from Kenya, he’s a rapper, and was among the contestants that participated in Big Brother Africa some years back.”
Another added that “this is an Old video of a Kenyan rapper, Prezzo. Check YouTube u go see am. Not Tekno, please.”
