The Saudi Arabian national team has reportedly offered football coach Jose Mourinho a two-year contract worth more than £100 million, which would make him the highest-paid manager ever.
The Portuguese coach, 60, who currently coaches Roma, has been approached by “top management” to head the Saudi Arabia national team.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the contract is worth €60 million per year and includes two options for Mourinho, who can either terminate it at the end of the first season or extend it until 2026.
If Mourinho accepts the offer, he will become the highest-paid manager in history, surpassing Pep Guardiola’s annual salary of £15 million at Manchester City.
According to Get Football Italy, Mourinho has a strong relationship with the club’s fans, but he appears unable to persuade Roma’s owners that he deserves a new contract, as no new offer is currently on the table.
He has reportedly demanded at least three new players, a striker, midfielder, and defender—be brought in during the summer transfer window if he is to stay in charge.
Mourinho seeks to decide his future during the current season, not at the conclusion of Roma’s current campaign, and is reportedly eager to speak with the Friedkins, the club’s owners.
If his demands are not met, the former Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham manager could leave the club.
Mourinho has amassed 25 career trophies, including three Premier League championships, two Champions Leagues, and one Europa League.
He has coached several of the world’s most prestigious clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid.
