A Nigerian woman, Margaret Oyibo Atayi has reportedly committed suicide due to depression from her marriage.
The sad news was verified by his father for the press. The report mentions that Margaret, a woman from Idoma in Ugbokolo, Okpokwu LGA of Benue State, was last spotted near City College of Education, Abacha Road, Mararaba close to Abuja at 3 am on Friday, May 17th.
Confirming her death, the bereaved father, Mr Atayi, said, “Margaret was a mother of two children. She has been in depression for some time now due to mistreatment by her husband.
She went out on that fateful Friday at 3 am without knowing anybody. Her body was discovered in the late hours of Monday, and every available evidence confirmed that she committed suicide.”
While announcing her death through a Facebook post, her sister Stella Ameh appreciated all those who contributed resources in searching for the deceased, adding that although she was found, she was not alive.
In her words, “Sunset at dawn [sic]. I want to use this medium to thank everyone for their enormous help, time, and resources put together in finding our sister Margret. Yes, she was found but has gone to find rest with her maker. God bless you all,” Stella said.
Responding to one Joe Smart Eigege, Stella added, “Joe Smart Eigege, Mr. know-it-all, since you guys have heads and can’t think properly to let the sleeping dog lie. I’ll spill it out to you as you deem it. Yes, she went into depression, left her parents’ house for an unknown destination the day she went missing, and she was found dead after taking her own life.
And her ordeal was caused by the Orokam man that she got married to, whose first wife died in the same fate. So now that you know what happened, go and bundle the FBI squad to arrest the demented man from the United States of Ogbadigbo for her death. What a h–ck,” Stella said.
Margaret happily married her husband from Orokam, Ogbadibo LGA of Benue State. After the passing of his first wife, they moved abroad with their two children.
However, her husband eventually brought her back to Nigeria and left her with their kids. Before her tragic death, Margaret confided to those around her that she was considering suicide due to her inability to care for her children.
