Bridget Otoo has highlighted the issue of low salaries for Ghanaian journalists, stating that most are paid below GHC 3,000.
According to her, this has led to a decline in the quality of journalism in the country.
During an interview on KSM’s show, she emphasized that the figure she mentioned is just a basic salary and many journalists earn even less. Bridget also drew a comparison by saying that she pays her shop attendants more than some journalists in Ghana.
“In 2024, if you pay a Journalist Ghc 3,000 as basic you haven’t committed any crime. But if I tell you the salaries of journalists…I even pay my staff at the cement shop even better than some of them. Money is an important factor in journalism. If people are paid well, they will work their heart off,” she said.
Shifting the focus on politics, the Metro TV news anchor used an analogy to illustrate Nana Kwame Bediako’s, also known as Cheddar, aspiration for the presidency.
Bridget emphasized the importance of believing someone when they reveal their true self, stating that the Ghanaian entrepreneur would be worse than Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Otoo believes that if Cheddar were to win the election, he has already displayed indications of his incompetence.
“When somebody shows you who they are believe them. So if Cheddar is showing you who he is going to be…of course, he is not going to win but if by any unforeseen circumstance he wins forget it. He will be worse than NPP, NDC,” she said on the KSM show.
