A mortuary attendant who allegedly embezzled mortuary fees to the tune of GH¢77,006 is yet to repay the full amount after reaching a repayment schedule.

The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, which made this known is unhappy that the amount embezzled by the mortuary attendant of the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Western Region remains unpaid.

Stephen Kwabena Bartels is said to have embezzled the funds between June 2019 and July 2020.

The Ghana Health Service said although the accused who has been transferred to a different facility in the region agreed to a repayment plan, he is yet to make any payment since the year 2020.

The funds are proceeds from the handling of 554 bodies that were deposited in the Regional Hospital morgue during the period.
