The Estate of Michael Jackson has reached a settlement with Jeffré Phillips, who was previously accused of stealing property valued at $1 million from the late singer’s Carolwood estate.
Legal documents obtained by TMZ indicate that the parties have resolved their dispute. The alleged theft occurred in 2009, following Michael Jackson’s passing.
The details of the settlement are confidential; however, it is important to note that Michael’s estate had previously sought the assistance of a judge in recovering the property.
TMZ initially reported that Michael’s estate alleged Phillips, who was once engaged to one of MJ’s siblings, took advantage of the turmoil and grief surrounding Michael’s death in 2009 to unlawfully acquire various personal and private belongings from MJ’s Carolwood residence.
The estate further claimed that Phillips intended to sell these items and sought to prevent any such sale from occurring. In an effort to reclaim the property, Michael’s estate estimated its total value to be approximately $1 million.
The stolen items, as alleged by the estate, include laptops, iPods, hard drives, DVDs, and CDs believed to contain exclusive MJ performances and unreleased concert footage.
Additionally, the estate stated that the remaining stolen possessions consisted of Michael’s handwritten song lyrics, cassette tapes, personal computers, framed record awards, a Michael Jackson doll, and a photo album featuring MJ on the cover.
