Michael B. Jordan is set to star in the highly anticipated film “Sinners,” directed by Ryan Coogler, marking their fifth collaboration.
The first trailer for the film was released on September 24, 2024, generating excitement among fans and critics alike.
Plot Overview
Jordan takes on a dual role as twin brothers who return to their hometown in the 1930s Jim Crow-era South, hoping to leave their troubled pasts behind. However, they soon discover that a sinister evil awaits them.
The film’s tagline, “Dance with the devil…and he’ll follow you home,” hints at a chilling narrative that blends horror with historical themes. The official synopsis describes the film as “a new vision of fear,” emphasizing the struggle of the brothers against an overwhelming darkness.
Cast and Production
Alongside Jordan, the film features a talented ensemble cast including Hailee Steinfeld, Delroy Lindo, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, and Jayme Lawson. Coogler, known for his work on “Black Panther” and “Creed,” wrote the original script for “Sinners,” making it his first original project since “Fruitvale Station” in 2013.
The film is produced by Coogler and his frequent collaborators, with Ludwig Göransson serving as executive producer. Göransson is noted for his Oscar-winning work on Black Panther and recently won another Academy Award for his score in Oppenheimer.
Release Information
“Sinners” is scheduled to hit theaters on March 7, 2025. Warner Bros. Pictures acquired distribution rights following a competitive bidding war earlier this year. This release will mark Coogler’s return to directing after the emotional success of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which paid tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman.
With its intriguing premise and a powerhouse team behind it, “Sinners” promises to be a standout addition to both Jordan’s and Coogler’s impressive filmographies.
