Ghanaian counsellor and social commentator, George Lutterodt, has sparked yet another controversy with his strong criticism of men who choose to conduct DNA tests on their children.
In a conversation with gospel singer Empress Gifty on her show, U Cook, Lutterodt openly questioned the value of DNA testing in familial relationships.
Known for his often unfiltered opinions, Lutterodt declared that men who feel the need to verify their children’s paternity through DNA tests are displaying a lack of trust in their partners and may even have underlying emotional or psychological issues.
“Men who conduct DNA tests on their children have serious mental health problems,” he said. “What is the point of a DNA test? If you’re in a relationship, the foundation should be built on trust, not suspicion.”
Lutterodt emphasized that the reliance on DNA tests not only damages the fabric of family trust but also reflects a broader societal issue regarding insecurity within relationships.
He questioned why some men would undermine the bond they share with their children, adding that it casts unnecessary doubt over the very nature of family.
He continued, “Children are a gift, and if you’re constantly questioning their origins, it speaks more about your insecurities than anything else. What good can come from seeking such validation?”
While Lutterodt’s views have often sparked intense debate, his latest remarks have ignited discussions on the importance of trust in relationships, with some agreeing with his sentiment and others calling for a more nuanced approach, especially when it comes to issues like paternity.
