Mejja’s Biography
Major Nameye Khadija, better known by his stage name Mejja, is a Genge musician from Kenya. He was born on May 23, 1986 in Majengo slums, Nyeri.
He is the second of two siblings. His brother, Wambugu, is also a musician.

Mejja’s Music Career
Mejja began singing in elementary school alongside his sibling Wambugu. They had founded a group known as Ghetto Clan.
In 2007, he relocated to Nairobi, where he encountered Clemo of Calif Records, who helped cultivate his talent as documented by proponents of entertainment in Kenya.
He was later signed to Calif Records, where he released a number of collaborative works. In 2008, his single “Jana Kuliendaje” earned him a prize at Kenya’s Chaguo la Teeniz.
In 2011, Mejja released a song titled “Landlord” that brought him to prominence.
Together with Kid Kora and Madtraxx, Mejja created the group “The Kansoul” in 2014. The band released their debut single, “Dabo Tap,” later that year.

Mejja collaborated on numerous songs in 2020, including “Cheza Kama Wewe” by Trio Mio and “Utawezana” by Femi One.
In 2021, he was featured on the Bensoul single “Nairobi” alongside Sauti Sol.
He was awarded Ksh. 20,000 after emerging as the Principal winner from among the three champions in the Celtel Talent Search.
