A recent post-mortem examination has confirmed that the body of dancehall artiste ‘Medikk’, whose real name is Stephanie Williams, died from gunshot wounds.

Through DNA analysis, it has been determined that the skeletal remains found in a cane field back in February belong to Williams.

The cause of death has been identified as fatal gunshot wounds, leading to the case being upgraded to a murder investigation.

Williams was reported missing on or around Thursday, August 24, 2023, prompting her mother to contact the Constant Spring police. Consequently, the police initiated a thorough investigation into her disappearance, considering the possibility of foul play.

In February, a police search led to the discovery of skeletal remains in a cane field located in the Wallen district of St Catherine.

These remains were carefully examined at the Linstead Hospital, where they were taken for further analysis. Additionally, the police recovered various items of clothing and jewellery at the scene.

The police have not yet identified any suspects in the case. According to her family, she had plans to meet an unnamed producer for a music video production. It remains unclear who this producer is and whether the police have looked into this claim.

Additionally, her family has expressed frustration with the slow progress of the police investigation. Medikk, known for her songs “Money Feelings,” “Overcome” featuring Shane O, and “Boss Level” featuring Jahvillani, was not only a musician but also an entrepreneur.

She owned Rheborn Holistic, a company that sold natural holistic products such as deodorant and skincare in the Jamaican market.
