Medikal's Biography

Samuel Adu Frimpong, better known by his stage as Medikal, was born to Portia Lamptey and James Frimpong in the Accra neighbourhood of Sowutuom on April 4, 1994.

Medikal attended Odorgonno Senior High for his high school education. He is the child of Portia Lamptey and James Frimpong.

Rapper Medikal has a child with businesswoman and movie star Fella Makafui.

Music Career

He is from the Ghanaian neighbourhood of Sowutuom. The 2017 Ghana Music Awards had the most nominations for Medikal and Sarkodie.

He appeared on the Tim Westwood Show in 2018. Samuel chose the moniker Medikal because he loved to rap about physicians, surgeons, healthcare professionals, and hospitals in general. He played professionally for Sekondi Hasaacas in the Ghana Premier League before turning to music.

He has worked hard and frequently teamed up with popular musicians to establish himself in the music business. In addition to his nominations for 2017, he also won the MTN 4Syte Video Award for best discovery video in 2016. Pidgin English and Ghanaian slang are frequently used by Medikal, who is noted for his fast-paced rap style and clever wordplay in songs.

He was taken into custody in October 2021 for displaying a gun on social media. Later, he was accused of illegally displaying weapons and ammunition, to which he entered a not guilty plea. Then, an Accra Circuit judge remanded him to prison imprisonment for 5 days. After spending five days on detention, he was granted bail for GHC 100,000 with one surety at the hearing on Tuesday, October 26.
