Nigerian actor Yul Edochie has stirred both support and backlash following a heartfelt message to his followers about the importance of walking away from unhealthy marriages.

The controversial actor took to his Instagram page to offer a clear and direct piece of advice, urging those struggling in their relationships to let go and move on instead of resorting to violence or harm.

His comments come in the wake of a disturbing incident where a woman was allegedly burned by her husband, a case that deeply affected Edochie.

“I saw the video of the lady that was burnt by her husband & it broke my heart,” Edochie shared, referencing the tragic story that highlighted the deadly consequences of marital conflict taken to an extreme.

Drawing from this heartbreaking incident, Edochie passionately advised his followers to reconsider violence as a solution to marital issues.

“If your marriage is not working, let go. Let go, walk away,” he continued, urging those facing troubled marriages to prioritize their safety and well-being. He added that no matter the circumstances, including infidelity, harming a spouse was never an acceptable response.

“Even if you catch your wife with another man, there’s no justification for harming her. If you catch your husband with another woman, there can be no justification for harming him,” he stated, reinforcing his stance on non-violence in relationships.

The actor’s advice comes at a time when domestic violence cases in Nigeria and across the world have been increasing, sparking calls for greater awareness and interventions to protect those trapped in abusive relationships.

Marital infidelity, financial stress, and lack of communication are among the many issues that strain relationships, but Edochie’s message emphasized the importance of finding peaceful ways to resolve conflicts rather than resorting to violence.

Edochie further urged, “Don’t kill another human being because of marriage. Marriage is not do or die. Walk away.”
