Renowned Nigerian actor Yul Edochie has stirred a heated debate on social media with his bold critique of the belief that “village people” are responsible for hindering personal progress.
In a thought-provoking post, Edochie dismissed this notion, arguing that individuals often hold themselves back rather than being sabotaged by unseen forces.
“Nobody hold you for village. Village people don’t even have your time. They’re busy trying to make headway in their own lives. Na you hold yourself,” he asserted, calling on people to reexamine their perspectives.

Edochie urged individuals to reconnect with their roots, emphasizing the importance of cultural grounding and self-reflection.
He said, “Go home, go traditional and ask questions about your life. Know who you are, where you come from, and where you should be heading to.”
This advice was coupled with a controversial remark that “church doesn’t solve everything,” challenging the reliance on religious institutions for answers to life’s challenges.
