Man Who Made False Claims Against Police Officers In Viral Audio Arrested

, Ghana Street Journal

The police have detained a guy they believe to be the narrator of the audio recording narrating the supposed elaborate event of illegal actions of some police officers.

The widely distributed audio clip has a guy identifying himself as Dr. Patrick Asiedu claiming that police officers tried to extort money from him after stopping his car and planting drugs they thought were illegal.

So far, police investigations have confirmed that the individual in police custody is actually named Patrick Asiedu, and that he is an Uber driver and not a doctor. According to the results of the investigations, everything the suspect said in the audio clip was completely made up.

The audio recording is a fake, and the suspect made up the whole story, including the dramatic details of a confrontation between police and military personnel. Other dramatic accounts of being transported to the Narcotics Control Commission or the Accra Central or East Legon Police Stations are also completely fabricated. It is also not true that fingerprints were obtained.

However, Patrick Asiedu, the suspect, claimed that he had seen a similar occurrence to the one he narrated on the audiotape actually happen to one of his passengers.

Additionally, the Police have discovered an audio tape in which the suspect claims to have met with the Inspector-General of Police. Similarly, we want to emphasize unequivocally that this allegation is untrue and should be dismissed.
