Before her death, Akua Donkor shared her reflections on the intricate relationships within Ghana’s political landscape.
In a heartfelt interview on UTV’s U Cook, she recounted her experiences with former President John Mahama and her admiration for Jean Mensah, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.

“I had a very good relationship with John Mahama. He even built a house for me,” she revealed, highlighting the closeness they once shared. However, she also noted the surprising turn their relationship took when she publicly praised Mensah.
“But he took it back because I praised Jean Mensah for being beautiful and humble at the same time.”
Her story underscores the complexities of loyalty and admiration in politics. Before Mensah’s introduction at the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting, Akua described how Mensah had shown her kindness during a visit to the Electoral Commission office.
“She gave me a seat and offered me water to drink,” Akua recalled, emphasizing how such gestures can create lasting bonds.

When she praised Mensah during the meeting, it came from a place of genuine appreciation. “I indicated that hardly do women who are beautiful humble themselves.
So if she is this beautiful and humble, then I support her,” she stated, illustrating her belief in recognizing positive qualities in others, regardless of political affiliations.
