President John Dramani Mahama has taken a significant step in fulfilling his pledge to advance constitutional reforms by establishing a Constitutional Review Committee.
The announcement, made through the Presidency Communications Office, highlights the President’s commitment to addressing gaps in the 1992 Constitution and ensuring democratic governance.
In a statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President, it was revealed, “The composition of the Committee underscores the President’s desire to engage persons of proven expertise, dedication to the service of the nation, and commitment to good governance, to manage the process.”

The committee, chaired by Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh, includes prominent members such as Justice Sophia Adinyirah, Prof. Kwame Karikari, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, Dr. Godwin Djokoto, Ibrahim Tanko Amidu, Dr. Esi Ansah, and Dr. Rainer Akumperigya, who will serve as Secretary.
Explaining the mandate of the committee, the statement added, “The Committee is expected to identify and address the gaps in, and the challenges with the implementation of, previous constitutional review work done by the 2010 Constitution Review Commission and the 2023 Constitution Review Consultative Committee.”
The team will also engage key stakeholders to solicit views on proposed amendments and provide actionable recommendations to strengthen governance.
