Mahama Is Doing What’s Best for Ghana – Bulldog Backs First-Class Travel Ban

Entertainment pundit and outspoken critic, Bulldog, has praised President John Dramani Mahama’s decision to ban government appointees from flying first-class on official travels.

Speaking on United Showbiz on Saturday, February 15, 2025, he called for accountability and urged the government to disclose the budget for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations.

Drawing comparisons between Ghana’s governance and global politics, Bulldog criticized past administrations for excessive spending, emphasizing the need for discipline in public expenditure.

“What we’ve seen under the previous government, we don’t want to see it in three weeks. All these diplomatic heads are flying economy, so why are appointees flying first class and business class to go and borrow? What for?” he questioned.

His comments come in response to Mahama’s latest directive, which aims to curb unnecessary government spending.

This policy is part of broader cost-cutting measures introduced by the administration as Ghana navigates economic challenges.

While commending Mahama’s bold stance, Bulldog also expressed concerns over the lack of transparency regarding the budget for Ghana’s Independence Day celebrations.

“We need to commend President Mahama for what he is doing so far. Meanwhile, with regard to the Independence Day parade, I am of the view that there should be full disclosure. They should tell us how much will go into it.

They should provide us with a breakdown. From now to whatever time, Ghanaians are now wide awake and aware of what is happening.”

In a politically charged moment, Bulldog also likened Mahama’s leadership style to that of former U.S. President Donald Trump, suggesting that decisive governance is what Ghana needs.

“I don’t know what Trump is doing in America. I can see that John Dramani is doing similar things here. We should have a leader who will be courageous to say that no matter what you do, this is what is good for us.”
