President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing Ghana’s youth unemployment crisis by attracting foreign investments, particularly from the United Kingdom.
During a meeting with visiting UK Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, Mahama emphasized the importance of international partnerships in overcoming Ghana’s economic challenges.
“We have a young, growing population, and so one of the major issues that came up strongly in the election was the issue of jobs,” Mahama stated.

“And so we are working together to see how we can bring in more investments, especially considering that we are shut out of the international credit markets.”
The President highlighted foreign direct investment as a crucial tool for economic recovery, noting that British companies have historically played a role in Ghana’s economic development.
“To bring in more foreign direct investments, to be able to create jobs for young people, is one of the things that we are going to be focusing on,” he said.
“And I believe that with the history of British companies investing in Ghana, we will bring more British companies in to come and partner with us in that objective.”
