Louis Vuitton, a world-renowned fashion house, recently introduced a cutting-edge NFT programme that features one of its signature luggage accessories.
Through the latest ‘Via’ marketing push, experienced travellers can acquire a €39k Treasure Trunk NFT that grants access to a variety of first-class privileges on their next trip across the world.
Louis Vuitton is shifting its attention from the more playful side of NFTs to a more luxurious usage of the technology. For this reason, they are only making a small quantity of their digital ‘Treasure Trunk’ accessories collection, which first appeared over 160 years ago. However, for the exorbitant sum of €39k, buyers will receive a custom-built, physical replica of the trunk in addition to other benefits in the future.
On June 8, brand fans in eligible countries (the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Japan, Australia, and Germany) will be able to sign up on the official website to participate. Then, on June 14, Louis Vuitton will notify those who were successful in their application that they have been granted access to a private website where they can view and ultimately purchase one of the NFTs.
Louis Vuitton, once in possession of an NFT, will assign a ‘Soul-Bound’ status to the Treasure Trunk NFTs. Basically making it impossible for holders to transfer them as gifts or on a secondary market. Because of this, the corporation will be able to maintain some amount of oversight over the collection and provide its local community with a level of support that would be impossible under the decentralised approach.
However, owners of the collection’s pieces will have the ability to buy keys that will grant access to further products in the future. They’ll be freely tradable on the secondary market, along with all the benefits that come with having the keys. Therefore, Louis Vuitton plans to reorganise its NFT game, allowing access to its luxury goods and services to a new, more exclusive clientele.
