Lil Kim sparked a bit of controversy this week after expressing her hopes for a monsoon to help put out the devastating fires in Los Angeles.
While she had good intentions, her choice of words didn’t sit well with everyone, and now, the legendary Junior M.A.F.I.A. rapper is firing back at her critics.
Kim first took to social media to share her thoughts on the ongoing fires, offering prayers for those affected by the tragedy.
“Been sending strong prayers up for L.A. and everyone affected by the fires. This is heartbreaking,” she wrote, showing her concern. But then, she added, “I pray to Jesus that God makes it monsoon in LA.”
While her sentiment was clearly to wish for heavy rain to help douse the flames, the term “monsoon” might have been a bit too dramatic for some, especially since it typically refers to a season of heavy rains, not just a single downpour.
The internet wasted no time calling her out, with fans pointing out the unintended irony of wishing for a massive, potentially destructive storm.
Not one to let a good clapback pass by, Kim swiftly responded, schooling her critics with a definition of a monsoon.
“Monsoon is seasonal heavy rains, look it up,” she quipped, setting the record straight. Her comeback didn’t stop the jokes, though—social media had a field day, with many fans finding humour in the situation, especially given the rapper’s well-known “hardcore” persona.
