Liam Payne was reportedly dropped by his record label and publicist recently, according to MailOnline. The singer’s name is missing from Universal Music Group’s artiste list, and sources claim that the label parted ways with him not long before his recent personal struggles.

Liam, who initially signed with Sony as part of One Direction, transitioned to Capitol Records—a Universal subsidiary—when he embarked on his solo career. Despite parting ways, Universal honored him with a heartfelt Instagram tribute on October 17, following news of his health challenges. “We are devastated by Liam Payne’s current situation,” the post read. “His legacy continues through his music and the countless fans he inspires.”

Despite this public acknowledgment, Universal Music Group’s website no longer lists Liam as an active artist. According to MailOnline, Liam had received a substantial advance when he signed his solo deal.

However, disappointing album sales and delays in releasing his second solo album reportedly led the company to sever ties with him. “Liam’s advance was massive, and he didn’t recoup,” a source stated. “Out of all the One Direction boys, Liam faced more challenges musically.”
The same outlet reported that Liam’s publicist also resigned in October, adding to the difficulties he has faced in recent months.
