The Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Presidency, Kofi Okyere-Darko, has called on Ghanaian media to dedicate at least 70 percent of their playlists to Ghanaian music throughout March in celebration of Heritage Month.
“For this month of March, please let us do Ghana music. I will entreat us to do at least 70 percent Ghanaian music.
“We have enough music in our collection to keep us going for the entire month. We have a beautiful country to build together, let’s all build the country we want together,” he stated.
Speaking at the launch of Heritage Month at Labadi Beach Hotel on Monday, March 3, 2025, Okyere-Darko emphasized the importance of using the month to showcase national pride and promote Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.

According to him, Heritage Month is an opportunity for Ghanaians to reaffirm their identity and unity through music, which plays a significant role in national development.
His appeal aligns with ongoing conversations about strengthening Ghana’s creative industry by giving local artists more prominence in the media.
Advocates of the initiative believe that increasing the airplay of Ghanaian music will not only celebrate the country’s cultural diversity but also support homegrown talent.
