The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has officially launched this year’s Heritage Month, emphasizing the promotion of Ghanaian cuisine and the global recognition of the country’s music.

Speaking at the official launch, which brought together key industry players, including arts enthusiasts, hoteliers, and representatives from the Tour Guides Association, the Chief Executive Officer of the GTA highlighted the significance of this year’s celebration.

Mrs. Maame Efua Houadjeto underscored the central theme of preserving Ghanaian heritage through food and music.

“Heritage Month is not just a celebration; it is a movement. It is about creating an enduring cultural identity that strengthens our tourism industry. We want every Ghanaian and visitor to leave with a taste of our cuisine and the rhythm of our music in their hearts,” she stated.

The month-long celebration will feature various activities, including in-person engagements, social media campaigns, film screenings, and storytelling sessions, all designed to deepen appreciation for Ghana’s traditions.

A significant highlight of this year’s edition is the active involvement of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), which will embark on a nationwide media campaign urging radio stations, television networks, and event organizers to prioritize Ghanaian music. This initiative aims to increase the airplay of local music and promote Ghanaian sounds globally.

Additionally, the GTA has introduced an annual Food Bazaar, scheduled for March 14, to showcase the country’s rich culinary heritage.

The event is expected to bring together chefs, food lovers, and vendors to celebrate traditional Ghanaian dishes, further reinforcing the connection between culture and tourism.

Heritage Month remains a key initiative aimed at raising awareness of Ghana’s cultural legacy among citizens, visitors, and tourists. Through its emphasis on food and music, this year’s celebration seeks to create lasting impressions and strengthen national pride.
