According to a report by MyNewsGH, Chief Priest Nuumo Yemi VII of the La Traditional Council has taken part in a protest in Accra to express their dissatisfaction with the government’s decision to sell SSNIT Hotels to Rock City, which is owned by Bryan Acheampong.
In videos circulating on social media, Chief Priest Nuumo Yemi VII can be seen pouring libation before the protest, emphasizing their frustration with the current state of affairs in the country.
As a symbolic gesture of their discontent, he deliberately shattered a Schnapp Bottle during the libation ceremony at the ‘Hands Off Our Hotels’ Demonstration.
Numerous groups have joined forces with Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, who exposed the government’s attempt to sell the SNNIT Hotels to a politician.
Ablakwa believes that these state-owned hotels have been mismanaged to create a false perception that justifies their sale.
He has subsequently filed a petition with CHRAJ, urging them to investigate the tender process and the potential conflict of interest involved.
In the meantime, Ablakwa has challenged Freddy Blay’s statement and urged him to take legal action, following a one-week ultimatum to apologize for alleging that his children have obtained a share of the La Beach.
“The truth as the bible say will set you free. If you are armed with the truth you fear no judge, you fear no court. So the Hon. Freddy Blay should stop issuing threats. What we are asking for is to leave the beach front. So these treats he shouldn’t wait for one week, we are ready to meet him in court today,” Ablakwa said.
Following Freddy Blay’s ultimatum, Samuel Okudzeti Ablakwa and TV3 were given a week to retract and apologize for their claims of his involvement in state capture. Blay maintains that his children obtained the property through legal means, dismissing the accusations as mere propaganda by the North Tongu Member of Parliament.
“My children have legitimately acquired certain portions of the beach front from the LA Council and where they are operating doesn’t belong to the management of Labadi Beach hotel,” adding that the North Tongu MP is engaging in “cheap propaganda and to court public opprobrium against my sons.”
