In a revealing discussion on GH Page TV, media personality Mawuli Ekpe Peter, better known as Abro, opened up about an unsettling experience with Ghanaian rapper Kweku Smoke.
According to Abro, what started as a straightforward event booking quickly became a tangled web of confusion and unmet expectations.
“I received a call from Ali, the owner of an event center, who wanted Kweku Smoke to perform on December 27,” Abro began. “They couldn’t reach him, so I contacted RapFada for Kweku’s number and took it from there.”
The negotiation seemed smooth at first. Abro explained that Kweku Smoke initially quoted a performance fee of GHS 100,000. After some back-and-forth, they settled on GHS 80,000.

“Because of the network issues that are common in December, I asked if I could send part payment, and he agreed,” Abro recounted.
“I sent him GHS 1,000 as a placeholder because the daily withdrawal limit was GHS 20,000. Later, I transferred GHS 40,000, which he confirmed receiving.”
However, things soon took an unexpected turn.
“To my shock, Ali called me later, saying Kweku Smoke was denying receiving the payment. I was stunned because I had confirmation of the transfer,” Abro revealed. “It looked like he changed his story when he realized Ali had enough funds for the event.”
The confusion deepened when the agreed-upon date for the performance, December 27, was suddenly shifted to January 3.
“When I asked why the date was changed, I was told it was because of me. But I later found out he had been booked for another show on December 27,” Abro said, clearly frustrated.
