Ace radio personality Kwasi Aboagye has publicly apologized to Afua Asantewaa on his Facebook page for the verbal attacks he directed towards her even before she embarked on her longest singing marathon according to Guinness World Record standards.
Last week, Kwasi used his platform on Peace FM to criticize Afua for her poor singing voice and excessive media presence before her singathon.
The ‘Entertainment Review’ host on Peace FM also expressed concern about her handling of certain issues with Rex Omar, who had insisted on supporting her Guinness World Record attempt with copyright law and provided a list of all the songs she intended to sing.
Following Afua’s unofficial breaking of the record at the time of this report, some netizens revisited the issue and began attacking Kwasi Aboagye for his derogatory comments. In light of Afua’s remarkable achievement and the backlash from Ghanaians, Kwasi Aboagye has decided to issue a public apology.
He posted:
Apology It seems to me that a comment made on radio by me prior to the start of Afua Asantewaa’s SING A THON to encourage her to stay focus has been misconstrued—probably due to the tone of my voice. I will therefore like to apologize to Afua Asantewaa and everyone for the comment made and any unfortunate displeasure it might have caused. Go Afua!

At 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 Afua Asantewaa equalled the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon by an individual, singing for a remarkable 105 hours.
Sunil Waghmare, an Indian singer, currently holds the record, but Afua Asantewaa has set her sights on surpassing it by singing for 115 hours. This would establish a new Guinness World Record for the longest sing-a-thon, following the previous record set in 2012.
Since she began her singing marathon at midnight on Sunday, Afua Asantewaa’s unwavering dedication and determination have become a source of inspiration for musicians throughout the country.
Esteemed artists such as Shatta Wale, Sista Afia, Sarkodie, Kwabena Kwabena, Efya, and Kuami Eugene, among others, have travelled to the Akwaaba village to show their full support.
It should be noted that the influence of this project goes beyond the boundaries of Ghana as Afua’s expedition has garnered global recognition, showcasing the country’s artistic talent and cultural abundance on an international platform.
