Rex Omar has issued a sincere apology to Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, the Ghanaian woman aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon, for inadvertently leaking her list of songs online.
Additionally, as the Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), Rex Omar also took the opportunity to clarify his position on his recent protest on GTV, where he warned that GHAMRO would disrupt the singathon event if Afua failed to provide a summarized list of songs she intended to perform. As usual, this new development has added a new layer to entertainment in Ghana.
Earlier today, Rex Omar posted the list of songs on Facebook, after which he extended his congratulations to Afua and her team for their adherence to the proper procedures. This comes after his previous statement on GTV, where he emphasized that GHAMRO had the authority to intervene if Afua did not submit her song list.
However, Afua rightfully reminded Rex Omar that the list was meant to be confidential and should not have been leaked online. Social media users also expressed their disapproval, commending him for his lack of discretion.
“This is supposed to be a confidential document for your outfit so why make it public Sir. This is not acceptable,” Afua commented.
A few minutes after his post, Rex Omar took it down.
In light of these events, Rex Omar took to Facebook to address the issue directly and offer an unreserved apology to Afua.
