Stonebwoy is asserting his credentials following the Grammy article omission, stating that he is the recipient of the Artiste of the Year award at the 2019 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, an announcement that was never made.
In a recent podcast hosted by MC Portfolio, he disclosed that Kwami Sefa Kayi and DJ Black, both affiliated with Charterhouse, the organizers of the esteemed award ceremony, informed him of his victory.
This achievement would make him the only artist in Ghana’s history to secure the Artiste of the Year title three times.
He shared this information while refuting the article published on the Grammy website, which recognized and celebrated Ghanaian legends who pioneered Hiplife and other contemporary genres that have influenced various sounds across Africa.
“I have boldly spoken about the three times, and I will continue to speak up until anyone doubts to speak otherwise,” Stonebwoy started.
“I have accepted that it is three times already, and I’m gladly rallying it around, giving a lot of credit and placing importance on the Ghana Music Awards. So, as for that one, I’m confident about it. I’m not dragging it with them.
“How deep can it get when Kwame Sefa Kayi, DJ Black, and myself are in the know? It is not about me proving it now. It’s about those who want to prove otherwise.
“If anyone thinks otherwise, they should also boldly come out and claim that they are the winners as well,” he confidently stated.
