In an emotionally charged moment, popular Ghanaian actor Kwaku Manu used his platform on the United Showbiz to make a heartfelt plea to incoming president John Dramani Mahama.
As tears welled up in his eyes, the actor addressed the dire economic situation in the country, urging the next administration to take immediate action to address the hardships facing Ghanaians.
“I am pleading with him,” Kwaku Manu said, his voice breaking. “These things really make me sad and emotional. I know some people will insult me for doing too much, but I’m begging him. Ghanaians are hungry.”

His words reflected the deep frustrations shared by many citizens who have felt the sting of rising living costs, unemployment, and general economic instability.
Manu highlighted several key issues contributing to the national crisis, particularly the promises made by the Akufo-Addo administration.
One such promise, the ambitious ‘One District, One Factory’ initiative, was designed to stimulate local industries and create jobs. However, Kwaku Manu pointed out that this initiative had not materialized in the way Ghanaians had hoped. “
Akufo-Addo introduced the ‘One District, One Factory’ initiative, and that should have been a priority, but it didn’t materialize. Ghanaians are hungry,” he lamented.
He continued by drawing attention to the dangerous exodus of Ghanaians seeking better opportunities abroad. “People are fleeing the country, risking their lives through Libya, and facing unimaginable horrors along the way,” he said.
“Many are trafficked, exploited, and even forced into prostitution. I’ve been to Kuwait and witnessed Ghanaians being thrown from storey buildings to the ground.” These stark realities reflect the desperation many face, driven by the lack of opportunities at home.

Despite the overwhelming challenges, Manu emphasized that Ghana possesses the resources necessary to improve its situation.
“We have gold, cocoa, and other resources. We have what it takes to do better,” he said, reminding viewers that the country’s natural wealth could be harnessed to alleviate poverty and create jobs if properly managed.
