Collins Adomako-Mensah, the MP for Afigya Kwabre North, has voiced his displeasure of Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng’s handling of the claims made against him by North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. Rev. Boateng is the secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral of Ghana.
In an interview on Good Morning Ghana sighted by Tru News Report, Adomako-Mensah said that the pastor has offered no concrete response to claims that he uses a false identity.
The MP for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) claims that Rev. Kusi Boateng is making Okudzeto Ablakwa popular because he hasn’t done enough to protect his identity and has instead tried to prevent Ablakwa from releasing any further evidence.
“Why is all this thing happening? Okudzeto starts something about the Cathedral, he zooms in on a particular person. He says you have two names, if you don’t have two names just say it. What is difficult about that? He says you have two TIN numbers; no, I don’t have one. What is difficult about that?
“The fact that you are not responding to him and giving contrary facts is what has brought us here. And what is happening now looks like you are trying to suppress the truth. Now, look at Okudzeto, he has become like some hero,” he said.
Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral of Ghana, filed an application for contempt against the MP on February 21, 2023, for mishandling a restraining order document issued by an Accra court.
The contempt hearing against Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the North Tongu Member of Parliament, has been postponed by a High Court in Accra.
Background
On January 16, 2023, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa made some allegations against Rev. Kusi Boateng, secretary of the National Cathedral of Ghana’s Board of Trustees. He previously revealed that the National Cathedral had paid a company called JNS Talent Centre Ltd a hefty GH2.6 million.
Inquiries into the alleged payment led investigators to learn that one Kwabena Adu Gyamfi served as a director of JNS Talent Centers. Ablakwa conducted more research in an effort to identify the third director, Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, after confirming the identities of two of the center’s three directors.
His research, which was based on a number of legal documents, showed that Kwabena Adu Gyamfi was the same person as Reverend Kusi Boateng, who had been using the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.
