The Ashanti Regional Police Command has confirmed that 21-year-old Daniel Tuffuor, a final-year student, has been taken into custody in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Miss Joana Deladem Yabani.
Miss Yabani, also a final-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, was found dead around 5:00 a.m. on February 27, 2025, near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre.
DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe revealed that Tuffuor was identified through campus CCTV footage.
“We have identified the suspect through CCTV footage on the KNUST campus, and he is currently assisting us with investigations,” he stated.

To enhance security, the police have intensified 24-hour surveillance on campus. “We are stepping up efforts to maintain security.
Our officers will conduct round-the-clock patrols,” DCOP Cudjoe added.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, assured the Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson, of safety measures on campus.
Expressing gratitude, she said, “Waking up to such horrible news is truly saddening. We are grateful to the IGP for his swift intervention.”
