Key Suspects In The Murder Of Sherrif Imoro Have Been Arrested By Police

The Ghana Police Service says they have arrested the prime suspect in the murder case of the deceased military officer Imoro Sherrif.

The police said that the suspects were arrested after an intelligence-led operation. “The Police, after a week of sustained intelligence-led operation, have arrested the key suspects involved in the murder of Imoro Sherrif, the soldier who was found dead at Taifa Ashiaman on March 4th, 2023.”

The military was so outraged by his killing that they searched the Accra suburb of Ashaiman in the early hours of Tuesday, March 7, for the people responsible for the horrible murder of one of their own. On Saturday, March 4, 2023, a young soldier was killed in Ashaiman Taifa.

Several people were taken into custody during the manhunt for the criminals, and on Friday the final badge was freed. After that, the MP strongly criticized the military men’s actions. But the Ghana Armed Forces said that the operation wasn’t about getting revenge but about finding the criminals who did it.

GAF wishes to state categorically that the military operation, which was sanctioned by the Military High Command, was NOT to avenge the killing of the soldier but rather to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime. Following the operations at Ashaiman-Taifa and Tulaku, the military personnel picked up about 184 suspects aged between 21 and 47 years old and have since handed them over to the Military Police and subsequently to be sent to the Ghana Police Service for screening and for further action. During the course of the swoop, the personnel seized 29 slabs and 57 mini slabs of suspected indian hemp and amnesia among other forms of the narcotics.”

GAF however acknowledges that regrettably some innocent persons might have been caught up in the operation and consequently suffered some distress due to the location they found themselves at the time,” they added.
