Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been declared a fugitive by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) after failing to respond to multiple invitations for questioning.
His lawyers, however, have assured the OSP of their willingness to cooperate, stating that he is currently in the United States seeking medical attention.
In a letter dated February 7, 2025, his legal representatives informed the OSP of his situation while pledging to provide any necessary information to aid in the ongoing investigations.
“We are, however, able and willing to provide you with any information you may require to aid in your investigations until our client is back in the country for any in-person investigations outlined in the said letter,” the lawyers stated.

The OSP had been probing the former minister over alleged financial misconduct, and his failure to appear before the investigative body led to his classification as a wanted person.
Speaking at a press briefing on February 12, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng addressed the situation. “Consequently, the OSP declares Ken Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta a wanted person. He is a fugitive from the law,” he announced.
The development has sparked widespread public discussion, with many questioning the implications of Ofori-Atta’s absence on the investigation.
Others argue that due process must be followed, allowing him to recover and defend himself when he returns. The OSP, however, maintains that his continued absence is obstructing the process, necessitating the declaration.
