As the dust settles after the 2024 presidential elections, it’s not just the candidates and their supporters who are taking stock of the results.
In an act of unwavering faith and support, a group of clergymen, representing various Christian denominations, visited Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at his residence on December 24, 2024. Their mission was clear: to offer encouragement and prayers following his defeat in the election.
Apostle George Apasera, speaking on behalf of the group, began by reflecting on the journey Dr. Bawumia had embarked on throughout his campaign. “You embarked on this journey with a very good note,” he said.
“You had all the support, especially those of us on the Christian divide, represented by the Clergy. We stood with you in good faith, and you conducted yourself very well to our admiration. All that you said resonated very well with a lot of us.”
It was a heartfelt tribute to Bawumia’s commitment to his cause, especially in a time when political campaigns can be both gruelling and divisive.
For many supporters, his approach was marked by civility and respect, qualities that resonated deeply with the pastors.

“It is unfortunate that the ultimate did not fall on your side, but you have really done your best, and we come to congratulate you for that. We say God bless you, and God will watch over your life and guide you,” Apostle Apasera continued.
The words of encouragement didn’t stop there. The pastors reminded Dr. Bawumia that this was not the end of the road, emphasizing his youth and potential.
“This is not the end of the road. You are still a young man, and there is still a lot ahead of you,” they said, urging him to keep his head up and look forward to new opportunities.
One of the most significant moments during their visit was when Apostle Apasera commended Dr. Bawumia for his calm and dignified concession speech.
“We are also very grateful the way you came out to concede defeat very early,” he remarked. “It calmed a lot of tension. Thank you.”
In a country where post-election tensions can sometimes spiral out of control, Bawumia’s early concession was widely appreciated, signaling that democracy had been upheld and the nation’s peace had been preserved.
