Karpowership Ghana has refuted claims that it is behind the recent power outages, stating that its operations remain unaffected despite the government’s outstanding debt of $370 million.
Sandra Amarquaye, the Communication Manager for Karpowership Ghana, emphasized the company’s commitment to power generation. Speaking to Citi Business News, she clarified:
“We are not the reason for the recent outages. We haven’t shut down the powership. It will interest you to know that we are operating at maximum capacity.

“As of this morning, I checked, we were producing 450MW of power to the national grid.”
The company acknowledged that while non-payment of invoices is impacting its operations, discussions with the government are ongoing to resolve the accumulated debt.
Karpowership Ghana continues to play a crucial role in stabilizing the national grid, supplying up to 450MW of electricity through its floating power plants.
