The beleaguered Yeezy designer, Kanye West, has built a Yeezy location on the same block as the Adidas store on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, despite his failed partnership with the German sportswear juggernaut.
Ye’s new site is only two storefronts away from Adidas’ retail location, according to the Donda Times Twitter feed. On the southwest corner of Melrose and Laurel Avenues, at 8025 Melrose Avenue, is the 7400-square-foot showroom.
It is unknown if Ye intends to utilize the space as a showroom, an office, or a storefront. Fans were not surprised by Ye’s choice of location and claimed that by moving in next door, he was mocking his former business partner.
“What a troll,” tweeted one person, while another added, “Must be Nice to be rich enough to explore all your petty tendencies.”
On Monday, Ye held his covert YZY Season 10 performance, called “YZY FREE,” at his new venue. The “extremely low-key affair” included skinhead models donning skin-tight white T-shirts, according to High Snobiety. He hosted a casting call at an L.A. warehouse just a few days previously.
Since adidas severed their relationship with Ye in October as a result of his anti-Semitic remarks, Ye appears to be making progress with his Yeezy line. Investors have filed a class action lawsuit against Adidas, claiming the business was aware of his derogatory comments for years before stopping its collaboration with him.
