After a productive three-day visit, US Vice President Kamala Harris departed from Ghana on March 29 and arrived in Tanzania that night.

She made the vow during a meeting with female business owners, when she also announced the creation of a $60 million Women in Digital Economy Fund.

After spending two days in Tanzania, Ms. Harris will go on to Zambia to round off her three-country African tour in a week on the Air Force Two, a specially designed C-32 model of the Boeing 757-200.

Following in the footsteps of Janet Yellen as Treasury Secretary and Antony Blinken as Secretary of State, Harris is the most recent high-ranking US government figure to travel to Africa.

She plans to use her time in these three African nations to strengthen the openness at the heart of U.S.-Africa relations. inclusiveness. candour, mutual concerns, and mutual advantage.

Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, Minister for International Trade and Regional Development, Dominik Nitiwul, Defence Minister, and Greater Accra Regional Minister Henry Quartey saw her off. She was also accompanied by the US Embassy’s Ghana contingent, led by Ambassador Virginia Evelyn Palmer.

During her three-day stay in Ghana, she had a meeting with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and was honoured with a state dinner.

On Tuesday, Harris spoke at Black Star Square, where he encouraged young Ghanaians and urged the government to do more to help women so they can contribute to economic progress.

She went to Cape Coast Castle, a painful reminder of the slave trade, in Ghana’s Central Region, the country’s first regional capital.
