Kobina Tahir Hammond, the MP for Adansi Asokwa, has expressed concern about the ill will that exists between members of the Majority Caucus and the Minority Caucus.

In a video sighted by Tru News Report of K.T. Hammond speaking on the floor of Parliament on March 2, 2023. He lamented that the House could never come to an agreement because members on both sides of the floor weren’t willing to compromise for the sake of the country, resulting in a fight at the end of every parliamentary debate.

To illustrate his point, he mentioned that the Minority Caucus was still refusing to accept him two weeks after he had completed his vetting to become Minister of Trade and Industry.

“This House, Mr Speaker, is disintegrating! It is. Mr. Speaker, there is so much shouting; there is so much animosity, no room for tolerance in this House. We have not been used to this. People get upset because these tantrums are thrown all over the place, and Mr. Speaker, the whole place breaks down into insanity; it isn’t right, Mr. Speaker but I’m happy today you made the point that monkey play by sizes and so people should learn to play they roles.

“Let us try and introduce some sanity in the House; Sometimes I sit here, and I get completely distressed… so all these years Mr. Speaker you where here, there and that we haven’t observe this and now, Mr. Speaker, I have been vetted for almost two weeks, I am sitting here. They say they won’t approve me, so I am sitting here. Look at all of this, can you imagine?” he said.

In response to a disagreement between Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Deputy Majority Leader of Parliament, and Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the Deputy Minority Leader of the House, over Afenyo-Markin’s description of Ken Ofori-Atta, the Minister for Finance, the Trade and Industry Minister-designate made these comments.

He requested the Deputy Minority Leader retract his earlier statement that Afenyo-Markin became famous by distorting others words.
