Presiding judge Carli Kierny has denied bail for Keefe D, the man accused of killing Tupac Shakur, despite Wack 100 unexpectedly stepping in to pay for his release.
The hearing, which took place on Tuesday (June 25) in Clark County District Court in Nevada, involved both the prosecution and defence presenting their arguments.
Wack 100 appeared via Zoom to support Keefe and revealed that he had paid $112,500 from his 100 Entertainment business to secure his bail.
“I know him from passing. I know his son,” Wack said when questioned about his relationship with the 61-year-old defendant.
“We sat down and talked a few times in general about personal things when he was having his bout with cancer.
“Personal things, industry stuff. Just regular conversation […] He’s always been a monumental guy in our community. And I’ve helped several people in our community, whether it was funerals, whether it was for bail.”
However, despite Wack 100’s positive remarks about Keefe D, his efforts were futile.
According to CBS News, the prosecution claimed that the music executive had ulterior motives in seeking the release of the alleged killer, as he aimed to showcase Keefe in a series of video interviews.
This argument was supported by a Vlad TV interview where Wack openly discussed this plan, leading the judge to deny Keefe’s release and prevent him and Wack from profiting from the ongoing case. Keefe’s legal team has not yet stated the court’s decision.
