John Dramani Mahama was officially enstooled as the Development Chief of the Penyi traditional area in the Ketu North Municipality on Friday.

The appointment took place during a vibrant durbar attended by local chiefs and community members. Mr. Mahama was bestowed with the title ‘Togbi Dunenyo’, signifying his role as the Nugoryifia of the Penyi Traditional Area.

As the special guest of honor at the Penyi Nugoryiza festival, Mr. Mahama was warmly received by a large crowd, accompanied by traditional drumming and dancing. The paramount chief of Penyi, Togbiga Dadzi V, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Mahama for accepting their invitation and commended him for his presence.

During the event, Togbiga Dadzi V also took the opportunity to acknowledge the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for its contributions to various development projects in the area.

He expressed hope for continued support from the NDC in the future, particularly when they regain power. Penyi Nugoryiza is an annual festival celebrated by the chiefs and people of Penyi, one of the four traditional areas within the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region.

Previously on Mahama, Rev. Joseph Eastwood Anaba, the president of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries (EAM) has shared a gripping story of how he (Mahama) saved the life of an International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) pastor.

Perhaps to illustrate how humane the former president was, which he extended to perceived enemies like Pastor Mensah Otabil (the founder and leader of the ICGC), Anaba recounted that he was in Nigeria during one of his pastoral missions when he received a call from Pastor Mensah Otabil requesting a favour.

Otabil told him over the line that one of his subordinate pastors had been involved in a ghastly accident in the North and needed to be transported back to Accra to receive medical care immediately; otherwise, he could die. Anaba, who is a good friend of the president, called him on the phone and pleaded with him for an air ambulance to aid the injured pastor. The president granted his request and asked the air force commander to assist Anaba with whatever he wanted.

He said that through the collaboration, the life of the pastor was saved. Pastor Eastwood Anaba made this new revelation while preaching to his congregation to explore the theme shrouding his sermon for that particular Sunday service.
