John Kumah Denies Land Fraud Allegations

Deputy Minister of Finance and Ejisu MP John Kumah has denied allegations that he is involved in a fraudulent land scam.

He released a statement saying that those accusations are not true and therefore should be treated with the contempt they deserve.

In a video that has gone viral, an older woman, perhaps in her late 50s, can be heard ranting and calling the deputy minister a thief. She alleges that John Kumah purchased her land under the pretence of a government project but is actually using it for his own company.

She is clearly disturbed, as she strongly demands the return of her land while also expressing anger and a desire to expose the Deputy Minister’s conduct. On the other hand, John Kumah says the viral video is an attempt to destroy his good reputation.

John Kumah stated that he asked his family chief, Nana Kofi Agyei, for land to build an asphaltic plant, and that the chief then handed the property to him in accordance with Aseda custom in front of other family members. He said that the goal of this gift was never to benefit himself but to improve the lives of the people in the neighbourhood by creating jobs and improving infrastructure.

“The progress of the asphaltic plant construction, which has reached an impressive 90% completion, stands as a testament to my unwavering dedication to fulfilling the promises made to my constituents during my campaign,” he said.

He cautioned the public against paying attention to the video and warned the media about the potential legal repercussions of publishing the video’s defamatory statements.
