Ghanaian actor and politician, John Dumelo made a generous donation to the Security Department of the University of Ghana, Legon.
He announced that he had provided motorbikes and streetlights to enhance security measures on his X platform on Wednesday, May 29, 2023.
Dumelo, who is currently vying for the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat against Lydia Alhassan of the NPP, expressed his optimism that this contribution would effectively address the issue of phone snatching and petty thefts on the Legon and UPSA campuses.
“Yesterday I presented 2 brand new Motorcycles and streetlights to the security department of the University of Ghana.” The actor cum Politician said.
“I hope this kind gesture will aid them to combat incidents of phone snatching and petty thefts on Legon and Upsa Campuses. The Students need to be protected.” He added.
John Dumelo’s gesture comes days after he implored the Electoral Commission (EC) to extend the registration period at university campuses.
He emphasized that this extension would enable more first-time voters to register and prevent them from being disenfranchised in the upcoming December elections.
Speaking to TV3, Mr Dumelo highlighted that only a small fraction of first-time voters have successfully registered at the Legon campus, with approximately 300 out of nearly 7,000 individuals registered.
