The highly anticipated first trailer for James Gunn’s Superman movie was released today, giving fans their first glimpse of the Man of Steel in Gunn’s vision.
The trailer, which premiered during a press event on the Warner Bros. lot, showcases a battered and bruised Superman crash-landing in a frozen landscape.

The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The trailer hints at a darker, more grounded take on the iconic superhero, with Superman’s trusted friend, Krypto the Superdog, coming to his aid.
Gunn, known for his work on the Guardians of the Galaxy films, has promised a mix of humour and seriousness in the movie. “It’s about coming at something from the inside,” Gunn said during the event. “It’s hopeful, fun, but incredibly serious all at the same time.”
The film is set to hit theatres on July 11, 2025, and is expected to be the cornerstone of the newly established DC Universe under Gunn and DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran.
