A beloved minister of the gospel known for his impact through music within the Christian community, Jacob Yaw Mawuko Adjola has tragically ended his life after what appears to be a prolonged period of overwhelming personal struggles.
His suicide note, a haunting reflection of his despair, was left behind, providing a painful glimpse into the emotional and physical toll he endured.
In the note, Jacob directly expresses his deep sense of failure, writing, “I choose to return to my maker as soon as possible. I had to do it because I didn’t deserve to live.”
These heartbreaking words show just how profoundly he felt his life had unraveled. He admitted to feeling that nothing could repair his mistakes, saying, “I failed woefully and nothing can solve any other mistake.”
Jacob shared that he had been struggling since 2022, and that his emotional and physical exhaustion had become too much to bear. “I’ve been a dead man since 2022,” he wrote, referring to the toll these past two years had taken on him.

He expressed his gratitude to his family, hospice, church, and friends for their support but acknowledged that despite their efforts, he had reached his limit.
“I have disappointed all of you,” he lamented. His note shows a man grappling with immense guilt, sorrow, and hopelessness.
In one of the more revealing parts of the note, Jacob mentioned his health battles, saying, “I have had 3 surgeries in my testicles and hidden to everyone.”
This private pain, combined with his emotional suffering, made his struggles even harder to bear. His decision to keep this hidden may indicate a profound sense of shame or isolation that further contributed to his despair.
Jacob ended his note with a plea for forgiveness: “Please forgive me! I failed!” These last words illustrate a man who, despite everything, still sought peace and understanding from those he left behind.
He took full responsibility for his actions, though he felt unable to defend them, making clear the extent to which he had been consumed by his struggles.
